What do you do when you don't know what steps to take first?
Choose Doug Koenig Law for elder consultations. When you meet with us, there will be a fee for the work we do, of course. Even the firms offering free consultations have to pay that attorney. Fees vary widely, of course, because every situation is different, and each person needs particularized care. The initial Elder Consultation Package goes over the general public benefits available, discusses options with the client and family, and allows you all to ask as many questions as necessary.
The fee for this consultation is $495 and includes the initial discussion, a binder of forms and other information, followed by telephone help with the Medicaid or VA benefits forms and a second meeting with the elder to address issues and questions they may have. If you retain us for additional work within 90 days, such as wills or trusts, $200 of the Elder Consultation Package is discounted from that work.

Doug Koenig Law has experience in several areas of Elder Law, but not all. Our expertise includes Medicaid and Social Security issues, powers of attorney and other issues with financial matters, health care planning, and wills and trusts. We can refer you to others with different expertise areas. We represent the elder generally, and not the family members. It is very important to us to distinguish who the client is, and to act accordingly.
Prepare for your first meeting with us by making a list of any questions you may have; and bring any documents related to the matters that concern you. This will allow us to provide focused information about your issues, and help you determine if we are right for you. If you need us to visit you at your home or residence, or even the hospital, we can make these arrangements.
